Hi. I wasn't sure how else to contact you since you have pm turned off but I figured here was as good as anywhere.

I have been trying to read the shades of gray community and I keep running into all these old threads that've been deleted. Is there anywhere I should start where there won't be so many missing threads and just assume whatever happened before is either irrelevant or I'll figure it out as I read?

I've tried a few different spots and keep getting frustrated by missing important stuff that's no longer there :(

Hi, I don't know what threads you're trying to read that are gone. We haven't deleted stuff in years. And that was stuff that no longer matters in the context of the game. They were characters and storylines that went nowhere. Honestly I'm kind of confused about this.

I am/was trying to read from the start of the community to figure out what was happening and a lot from the beginning are gone. I just wanted to figure out how far from the beginning to try reading?

So far I've tried:
From the beginning of the lj community - a lot is gone and it's just too frustrating because things keep being referenced that I can't find.

Sylar(you) and graylikeme - back to first graylikeme tag == tagging seems inconsistent and/or things are deleted or something but I started trying to go day by day to figure out what I was missing and still getting confused which made me sad :( because their interaction was the type of thing I wanted to read

Somewhere in the middle where Graylikeme had been kidnapped but was back and there was a dinner party Sylar and he were hosting.

Italianeaglsct and one of the gabriels (sorry I don't remember the nick) - got way too confused :/ to close to present -- I liked what I was reading though (specifically the sylar/peter battling while eaglescout and gabriel was on their first date) -- but as I read forward I saw I had missed a lot when Peter and Nathan had a fight about the other Nathan.

So... somewhere before the dinner party and after sylar and graylikeme meet has to be a sweet spot where there won't be deleted posts in their storyline that I can start reading from? :) Or should I just try to stick way more recent and try to find where italianeaglescout and that gabriel meet and read from there?

This community seems like it's not really set up to be easily read - which is different from other rp communities I've read in. I realize I most likely am causing issues since probably you don't get asked what I'm asking all that often!

We had some drama llamas who deleted some stuff when they quit. It's really easier to follow character tags - I think - not really sure since I've been reading all along.

I've never had anyone check into read before, so this is kind of cool. We do update posts periodically that link to other threads on the OOC comm under the (update) tag. That might help.

Each IC post has an OOC post counterpart where you can ask questions if you like.

Wow nobody else asked about reading?

Well... the other few communities I got involved in reading were writing to be read so they had it set up a lot easier for readers to jump in and obviously nothing was deleted XD so that helped.

I actually find the format interesting here because you let other people give your own characters actions in limited capacity and I wasn't used to seeing that. Are these things everyone has already discussed? (I noticed this particularly on the whole sylar/peter!fight, gabriel/peter date saga).

I was intrigued by the whole idea that Gabriel gets kidnapped by a sylar and Sylar(you) saves him :) -- Is that going to have deleted parts you think? (also any idea where to try to find that at? about what time period it was?)

The tagging I thought was the answer but seriously :/ people weren't very good at consistently tagging all characters in a thread. I guess nobody was expecting someone else to try to find the threads later I suppose?

We're actually really anal about our tags. We had a few threads deleted in the kidnapping story by a few bad ex-members. But the meat and potatoes stuff is all there. Gabe's kidnapping was a good two years ago in real time. rachel - rachelspain was involved in that, and so she's a good tag to follow. I think.

We do write a tiny bit for each other, but I think it's because we've been together for so long. We all trust each other.

Thanks for the explanation - that makes sense. I write rp with a good friend and we've evolved like that over the years so I totally understand!

Do you have anything like a "story so far" post somewhere or is that what the updates amount to?

(Final q I promise for now :) - I see all these twitter links and stuff - does graylike me span both twitter and lj as far as storyline?

Gabe doesn't RP on Twitter anymore, and the Twitter verse doesn't interest with the LJ verse for any of the other games. A lot of us have our accounts linked because when LJ is acting up, sometimes you see the tweet before you get the email notice.

Basically on the kidnap story Beast kidnapped Gabe to force Sylar into letting the monster back out. Sylar had been tamed by Angela's brainwashing. There was a lot of fun and violence involved.

The updates are the best bet for any kind of summary. We don't do a meta-plot. Each character does their own storyline, so it's a bit chaotic.
