There's no greater compliment that I can get either when I'm asked if I'm a guy or a girl.
I've only been in the game for less than a year and just recently tackled my first male character and I am uber self conscious about whether I sound like a female or not.
Now that I'm comfortable, I just let the muse take over.
Men are SO different than women. It's genetic. They are wired differently.
If someone wants to RP a character that is the opposite sex they really should talk to real men or women, see how they vary from them. Pick up on the differences.
You my dearest are one of the best RPers I have ever had the pleasure of playing with. You are a natural at shedding your skin and becoming your muse. They are muses for you, not a puppet. You are so good.
Omg THIS! Nothing drives me crazier then when someone fucks up the gender of a character, be it in fanfic or otherwise.
I remember not too long ago I had a massive rant going about how a writer turned a teenage boy into a teenage girl and it was NOT genderswap story! They are COMPLETELY different creatures! /rant
>.> Ahem, sorry I'm a little bitchy about this subject I think. Anyways yes, if RPing/writing a male, vaginas and estrogen should be left at the door. *nods*
I remember something like this a long time ago when I first started playing Heidi, her original Nathan he was so out of character I just cringed. Really he went off to South America to ugh find himself.
...
Because guys like Nathan do that on a regular basis, I'm sure *rolls eyes*

In other words, you hit the nail on the head. Again.

God knows I couldn't make my muses do anything, even if I tried.
