Bennet Season
I could still feel them. Every fist fall, every kick, every bullet that he’d put into me, but most of all I could feel the slice of the knife across my throat. The hot rush of my blood soaked into my shirt while he held my head back by the hair. I could hear Elle whimpering powerless and afraid while he ended my life, taking his revenge on me for terrorizing his family. For frightening his precious Claire Bear.

The eclipse came and went, life surged back into me. Noah rubbed my face in my stupidity for believing in Angela. More pain for me caused by him. My hatred, my need to destroy him has become my obsession. As if I needed another obsession…

Noah thought they’d all be safe when he let Parkman and Angela destroy who I was. He was so wrong. Poor little Claire still thought I was dead while I was forced to live inside of Nathan Petrelli’s skin.

I’d chewed my way out like Alien, Nathan was no more. I was back.

Time was on my side, first the boy. Little Larry or whatever the fuck his name was. I waited at the side of a busy intersection in Costa Verde. The look of terror on Lester’s face when the Mac Truck plowed through his car was priceless. The way his blood splattered over the mosaic of the windshield turning it to crimson stained glass was beautiful.

I smiled from inside Starbucks watching as Noah rushed out of his car. I’d been sure that Lyle was on a street Noah traveled on. His pain was exquisite. Either that or I was drinking the best mocha I’d ever had.

They blamed it on the truck driver, but he swore up and down that he’d hit the brakes. The poor man felt so bad about killing Lionel, his wife and newborn daughter that he blew his brains out.

Sandra was next. I never liked her. All it took was a gift certificate for a spa day. Face down on the massage table; I used the power I’d stolen from Doyle to keep her quiet. Her spine stiffened in pain and terror as I crushed her ankles in with my bare hands. I could taste her fear and it made me hungrier for more. I worked slowly using my hands and my telekinesis, ever so careful to never break the skin. I didn’t want her to bleed. I wanted her to die in agony. She was insane from the pain before I got through with her right arm. Her left was already hanging limp and pliant as putty.

I left her head intact; I wanted him to see the pain etched on her face. I wanted it to haunt his memories for what time he had left. She died when I drove her broken ribs into her heart and lungs. The trickle of blood from her nose and mouth was all I allowed.

I watched at the spa too, with mud smeared over my face, wrapped in a towel, so he wouldn’t recognize me. I wanted to see Noah’s face when he found out what I’d done to her. He cried like a little girl. The Coroner said it looked like Sandra had been skydiving without a parachute. I had to teleport away before I laughed out loud.

Claire was the hardest. I didn’t want to kill her. Perhaps it was a residual emotion from living Nathan’s life. Maybe I would need someone to keep me company through the eons, but I needed Noah to be alone.

She’d learned so much over the years, how to fight, how to shoot, how to be a little killer just like daddy. Her inability to feel pain let her keep coming when she should have given up. It wasn’t hard to get her attention, to set my trap. All I had to do was tell her I’d been the one to kill little Luke and his family, and brag about what I’d done to mommy. I’d done it in person, slapping a bloody handprint on her window to say ‘hi.’ My fingerprints and my blood, there was no denying I was alive, and that her father had lied to her again.

She was livid when she came for me. Seeing red, and in the end she couldn’t heal fast enough to stop me. I burned her skin off layer by layer, hit her with a truck or two, but she kept coming. Long out of bullets she still tried to beat me. I let her hit me in the face twice, her blows rocking me back, but that was only to get her within reach. Then with a smile I wrapped my hand and will around her throat used my telekinesis to slice her head off. If I thought Lindsey bled, it was nothing compared to beheading Claire. I was covered in it. It soaked through my clothes, splashed into my face and filled my mouth.

“Don’t worry, Claire. You still can’t die. Once I’m done with Noah and Angela for what they did to me, I’ll put you back together, and we can start our little game.” I took her head with me, holding it by her ponytail and tossed it into the passenger seat of my car. But not before I left my calling card for Noah. I wrote my name on the pavement in Claire Bear’s blood.

‘SYLAR’

I didn’t hide from Noah. Why would I? I was the Spider King, and I’d woven my web for him and him alone. Now that Peter knew what he and Angela had done, he was in no condition to help him fight me. It was just the old man and me.

His fingers were spotted, his hair nearly gone when he arrived. Ted’s radiation had done a number on him. He didn’t have Claire’s ability to heal. His hands were shaking when he raised his gun to shoot me. I laughed in his face as he emptied the clip into my chest. I was smiling when I took a shot or two in the head too. I barely felt the pain as they hit, I’d had the ability long enough that the pain centers in my brain were starting to fry out too.

“Kill you!!!” he bellowed, charging at me with a knife in his hand. I flicked my finger sending the knife into the wall and lifted him from the ground by the throat. He hung there like a puppet waiting for my next move.

“Tell me, Noah. Did her body regenerate without the head? Have you been going down to the Company morgue to wait for her to come back?” I showed him the box where I kept Claire’s head, letting him see as her green eyes widened at the sight of him. “She’s still alive, not much fun anymore though. I should have killed Parkman, then Claire and I could talk.”

Noah was nearly foaming at the mouth. His rage was like ambrosia. His body trembled with it. I could hear his heart fighting to beat properly, and shooting pain ran up with arm. I dropped him to the ground, letting the heart attack I’d caused run its course. He staggered to the box, trying to pry it open to save her.

I came up behind him, taking his own knife and sliced open his throat, holding his head back like he had mine. Claire’s eyes looked about ready to pop as she watched her father bleed out. “Oh Princess, in case they never told you, that’s how I did Nathan too.”

You really do a great job with capturing Sylar's voice. No empathy, the only emotion victory. Props!

I didn't think I was going to like this, but I actually really loved it. It was so dark and twisted and terrifying; your imagery was absolutely phenomenal. The way you describe Sylar's own death in the beginning, with the hot blood, really brought a sense of passion and depth to the fic. I also loved how he kept getting Lyle's name wrong through the whole thing.

Wow thanks. That is really nice of you. I'm glad you liked it. LOL I was running out of names for Lyle. Good thing I killed him off. ;)

Thank You

Kewl

That's the bad thing about reoccurring villains, they aren't really allowed to kill off the "good" guys and I think over time it diminishes them as a character. Yet the "good" guys get to kick their ass regularly. (it's so unfair lol) This is exactly what Sylar would do. He would take them all out. But then again you wouldnt have a show anymore so....good read, well done.

Keep it up!

I just joined LJ, though my work isn't as dark I'm really liking your entries. Others on SArmy have said your work is amazing so I'm checking you out. *wink* I love what I've read so far.

LJ is a bit complicating to navigate around. Trying to figure it out.
