Dear Parkman,

You didn’t think I’d let you slide after the shit I’ve dumped on Angela and Bennet, did you? I’m recording this message, so you don’t need little Matty to read it to you. I thought about using little words that you might understand, but it’s been ages since I could write at a 2nd grade level.

Honest to fucking god, at what point did you think you were doing a good thing when you went into my head? You knew it was wrong! You knew that it was murder. It made you worse than your father! How could a supposedly good human being, a cop no less, do that to someone lying helpless? Sure I’m a murderer, but who made the three of you judge, jury and executioner?

I will always treasure the look on your fat face when you discovered me hiding in your head. Believe you me I wish I hadn’t been there. Christ your life was worse than Gabriel’s. Could you have spent any more time kissing Janice’s ass?

Not that it wasn’t a fine ass. The woman is hot, and so very kinky. Bet you never knew that. Hell I bet she misses me.

So here we are now. I’m back in my body, and I’ve supposedly found redemption. I’ve given up killing to be a hero. That all may be true, but only time will tell if I can keep control of my hunger now that I’m whole and free.

But not killing doesn’t mean I’m not still a mean son of a bitch. If I ever hear you taking credit for me turning over a new leaf, I will reach down your throat, past the three dozen donuts you’ve got in your stomach and strangle you with your intestines.

Keep this in mind too. The day I decide to give into my baser instincts you are number three on my list. I thought having Bennet be number two was appropriate, and you do not rank as number one.

Hope you enjoy living in fear of the day I come for you.

Sincerely,
Sylar

Time in a Bottle

He’d slipped through my fingers so many times over the years. He was like trying to capture a thought or a memory in the blink of an eye. But after finally getting my hands on Matt Parkman, I could do just that. I could read thoughts. I could create a reality in someone’s head so real that they’d live out their lives in there while their bodies died of starvation.

With Molly Parkman’s blood still slick on my fingers, I thought about Hiro Nakamura. I didn’t need a map like Molly did. I could see where the time traveler was as he sipped sake in a Tokyo bar. She’d have been able to do so much more with her ability if she’d tried. So few of them ever tried to learn how to use what they were given. I never made that mistake.

I’d let Hiro go. He was no threat to me. Keeping out of my way over the years, but when he’d taken her from me he’d torn open an old wound. Rubbing my thumb over the scar on my chest, I remembered the pain of his katana slicing through my chest and out my back. It still irked me seventeen years later that he’d managed to survive me flinging him into that building.

Claire Bennet. My Claire. Taken from me once again, but not by my fucking brother, Peter. This time she’d been stolen out of my time by Hiro’s interference. When I thought about her, I saw nothing. She was gone from my reality, and I would have her back. I didn’t spend so many years killing everyone she loved or would come to love just to have her escape to another time and place.

Flying fast enough to leave a sonic boom in my wake, I flashed across the sky to Japan. Hiro was finishing the last sip of sake when I appeared behind him. I grabbed him around the neck with my hands and my power, crushing his wind pipe, the pain would stop him from using his power. Three men in the bar tried to stop me. With a wave of my hand they spontaneously combusted crumbling ash too quickly for them to scream.

Holding Hiro by the collar, I dragged him into a corner while everyone else in the bar ran out screaming. His eyes were watering from the pain and his face was turning red as he tried to breathe. Focusing on his mind, I filled it with images of his past, leaving him in a dream with his mother until he stopped struggling.

“Where’s Claire, Hiro?” His mother asked him in his mind. “We need to find her.”

“Otasa she is in the past.” Little boy Hiro beamed with pride. “I saved her from the bad man. Saved her from Sylar.”

“That’s right,” she said, running her fingers through his hair. “Where did you take her, Hiro? Show me where you took her.”

The images opened in his mind. I saw them together, near where her house had once stood in Texas. The wind was blowing her long hair away from her beautiful face. Hiro was wearing his ninja outfit with his katana on his back like the man I had pinned to the floor at my feet.

“I need to fix my mistake. Take me back, Hiro. Please.”

Whatever, I didn’t need to hear the words. Didn’t need to hear her beg him to let her save her family from me when it’s her fault they’re all dead. All she had to do was love me the way I loved her. It would have been simple. But nothing is ever simple with that bitch. They blinked out of time, and suddenly she was standing in the past. I knew where she’d gone.

Hiro was still smiling about his mother when I cut open his head. After all these years, I could finally take that glorious power from him. With it I would find my Claire, and I would make her so very sorry for leaving me.

One Way or Another - Part One

Within three beats of my reconstructed heart, guilt filled me for the deaths I had caused. Within three breaths in my still seared lungs, rage filled me for the death of my son. My flesh was the last to form over the skeleton that knit together molecule after molecule. Within three blinks of my new eyes, I could see the outline of buildings against the nuclear wasteland I’d created. Ash thick as snow covered everything for miles.

There was nothing left of our house. Nothing left of my son. Peter was long gone. The pieces of Knox were nothing but dust on the wind. But Claire wasn’t there. There were no bits of the cheerleader left behind. Not a single dyed strand of hair.

But if I was alive, then so was she. I was going to have to hunt her down. Niece or not it was time for Claire Bennett to finally die. Obviously blood meant nothing to her. Her people had killed my child. She’d been in my house to kill her beloved uncle Peter.

I could feel the need to kill deep in my gut. All my months of fighting the hunger to be someone Noah could be proud of had been for nothing. I was going to strangle her with her own intestines. It brought a smile to my face to think about how long I could keep her alive while I did it. First I was going to have to find her. My contacts with the Company had dried up a long time ago. But there was another way. I needed to find little Molly Walker.

No one in New York paid me any attention. My face wasn’t on billboards or plastered over the television. Being the President’s brother was good for something after all. Besides I’m pretty sure they were blaming this whole event on Peter, and the ones not placing blame were busy getting in line for the serum. Peter said they’d destroy the world.

But I didn’t care. Not anymore. My reason for living was gone. I just needed the world in one piece until after Claire was gone.

I found Molly at a funeral for her stepmother. The portrait of one of Noah’s assassins standing next to Parkman nearly made me lose control again. Two hundred thousand were already dead because of Claire. If I lost it here though, it would be my fault.

Dressed in black, I blended right in with the rest of the mourners. I used my abilities to make Parkman’s baby start crying. While he was busy attending to her, I cut Molly out of the crowd like a wolf among sheep. Binding her with my mind, I levitated us away from the scene. Her eyes were white with terror as we settled on a rooftop far enough away that Matt wouldn’t be able to find either one of us. No one would hear her scream either.

“Hello Molly. I’m sorry about this.” I raised my finger to begin the cutting. “This is Claire Bennett’s fault. But don’t worry. You won’t see her in Heaven.”
